Software Test Engineer print solution software flexible working Cambridge based
Software Test Engineer (senior) required to be primarily focussed on testing RIPs in an embedded environment.
Responsibilities will include: Constructing & executing detailed test plans; investigating problems to aid fix process; testing, verifying & devising work-arounds for defects; developing tests for new features under development; developing test harnesses that exercise the functionality of SDK-based products; and tracking problems and their solutions using in-house management tools.
Essential skills and experience include:
Around 3 years software testing and*or development experience
Visual Studio (VC++ preferred)
Knowledge of the publishing*printing industry and of publishing software eg. QuarkXpress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat
Good current awareness of industry standards specifically relating to Postscript and PDF
Strong communication skills
Good analytical abilities
Also desirable are:
Good working knowledge of Page Description Languages including Postscript and PDF
Knowledge of typical pre-press workflows for both graphic arts and digital print industries
Experience of working with multiple platforms (PC*Windows,UNIX,Macintosh)
Experience with PostScript language RIPs and colour printers
Understanding of digital colour, screening and trapping
Understanding of font technology
This role will be based near Cambridge, salary negotiable dependent on experience.
It may be possible to arrange flexible working hours.
